Hi kids! Great news! We’ll be releasing our debut ep, Jolienoire | ep, on January 27th on Trondheim Calling. It’s been a long ride, but who cares? It’s out in a few days!
As mentioned a billion times it’s recorded in Harry’s Gym, Oslo, with Linn Nystadnes form Deathcrush as producer. Mastered by Morten in Redroom. Sleeve design by us (mostly Ola).
Where can I get it you ask? Well, we’ll drop it off in selected record stores and are also working on getting it available in iTunes/Spotify etc (not the vinyl obviously). You can also buy it from our cold hands yourself at Brukbar the 27th, at upcoming gigs (no gigs scheduled, doh!) or just drop us a message somewhere and we’ll send/hand it to you for a small amount of hard earned cash. Someone also said something about BandCamp? We’ll look into it.
The first video from our upcoming release Jolienoire | ep is here. Now. Right now. It’s out. Tada. So… take a peek?
Some trivia for the young souls:
The video is an audiovisual representation of the song Over You which you also will find as an audio-only version on our debut ep: Jolienoire | ep. The music you hear is a recording of us from Harry’s Gym (it’s the very same as on the ep, only with kinda shittier YouTube sound). Linn who produced and mixed everything, also sings backing vocals on this one! She is very talented.
The video recording on the other hand is not done in a fancy studio, nor with any professional equipment. We, being young in the days of yawn, have always been into DIY. So we did. Also, the idea of restraining your creativity by limiting yourself is… arty. And so are we, arty that is, so we shot the whole thing with a mobile phone (This is true. It was on purpose). Editing was done with OpenShot Video Editor on my Ubuntu box (it’s Linux). It was difficult. It was a drag. It was a lot of fun. It was interesting. It’s done. Enjoy.
Just got a pedal board for my pedals! From a spaghetti chaos to a nice organised plate. Sounds the same, though.
Speaking of spaghetti: My friends know me as a really good chef. The other day I dished up a super fine dinner which also turned out to actually look like an album cover. Quiz: What band and what album is it (see picture)? First one with right answer will get a nice reward!
Call:Vega playing in front of the pyramids of Egypt! Man, this gig will be epic!
Good news everyone! We’re teaming up with Call:Vega this Saturday the 3rd of December to give you all a break from Christmas, exams, deadlines and nagging ex-girlfriends! The venue is Fru Lundgreen, Trondheim and it’s only 80 kroner! That’s like super cheap!
Call:Vega is currently on tour releasing their debut album Comets [available on Spotify] and we’re super excited to join them at Lundis.
Btw: This will be the last chance to catch us live before Trondheim Calling in January.
From 27th to 28th of January 2012 Trondheim Calling will be arranged for the second time at Byscenen, SUPA and Brukbar. Trondheim Calling is a regional music conference and we are proud to be on the poster.
A drunken bird (Hi Marcelius! Cool seeing you again!) told me there’s a rumour on the town that we are dead. Well. We’re not. Come on guys! We went to Oslo for one weekend!
Actually we’re hard at work. Booking, cleaning and rearranging furniture in our rehearsal room, picking up 65kg packages in the mail, hanging posters from the days of yawn. Ola’s bought some new toys. Same old C mold and then some that is. And: Gigs and more in the works. Ears open, yayas out and stay tuned boys and girls.
Found this while searching through Google Docs for lyrics (yeah, I have to learn my own lyrics from time to time. So what?). It’s a visualization of the tune “Going Under”. We worked hard to get it ready for Musikkfest back in June and this was my attempt to explain it for the rest of the guys. We’ll bring it along to Hamar and Oslo. Maybe we’ll even play it!
Since Daniel is working abroad these days, our band rehearsals are a bit… different? Three guys, no drums and all that. Well, don’t worry, we make noise still, but three is a charm and four is .. well it’s more. Anyways.. In August, me and Bjørn attended the somewhat annual Eat the Rich festival down at Svartlamon. There we hooked up with an old friend of ours, Marius. If you’ve been around, you know him from back in the golden days when he played magical pop music in the infamous Peeker. Marius is a Musician. And he’s a great guy too! He asked us if he could join in on some rehearsals. Of course we said Hell yeah!
Last night it finally happened.
Jamming with Marius was a lot of fun, and we plan to do it again. Maybe with Daniel too?
I don’t often get starstruck these days. But a strange thing just happened. On my way to work today, none other than John Paul Jones passed me on the street in Kristiansand. I allmost shat myself (note to self: remember to check “happy-underwear”…). If you don’t know who he is… He is a famous trapeze dancer and also known as an musician – Lead vocalist in Bananarama, cowbells in Kylie Minogue`s 90`s tribute band and the flute in Gartnerlosjen…….ooooor, you can google him.
The last two rehearsals have been great for making new stuff and polishing on old things. We’ve been fooling around with things like Boring News + Lexington (45 min of joy, anxiety, sweat and intoxicated dancing), finally finished Kiss And Tell and suddenlyremembered that we used to cover Kiss only the important ones (GBV). Yeah, we brag: It was smashing!
Yesterday me, Bjørn and Daniel were on our own. Since Ola was on holiday I borrowed his Rickenbacker (thx!), and we pretended to be a power trio for a little while. Result: another new tune (idea at least). Can’t wait to add Ola to the mix and show it to you guys!
